Policymakers, Consider Reducing Reliability

چکیده
In this study, the physical and economic impacts of four policy measures (crop diversification, improved watershed development, canal lining reducing level reliability) all designed to improve bulk water supply, are assessed in a case study Musi catchment India. The aim is compare these have on amount supplied net returns across complex multi-nodal catchment. It argued that because it policymakers who make decisions regarding measures, an assessment private benefits subset users would not be adequate. Rather, society wide costs need considered. Using hydroeconomic model was found reliability most beneficial outcome from both perspective. other three were some adverse regions directly affected by measure.

People consider reliability and cost when verifying their autobiographical memories.
Because memories are not always accurate, people rely on a variety of strategies to verify whether the events that they remember really did occur. Several studies have examined which strategies people tend to use, but none to date has asked why people opt for certain strategies over others. Here we examined the extent to which people's beliefs about the reliability and the cost of different str...
متن کاملReducing Reliability Uncertainties for Marine Renewable Energy
Technology Readiness Levels (TRLs) are a widely used metric of technology maturity and risk for marine renewable energy (MRE) devices. To-date, a large number of device concepts have been proposed which have reached the early validation stages of development (TRLs 1–3). Only a handful of mature designs have attained pre-commercial development status following prototype sea trials (TRLs 7–8). In...
متن کاملEngaging physical activity policymakers.
Evidence for the health benefits of physical activity is overwhelming: physical activity is protective against type II diabetes, cardiovascular disease, breast and colon cancer, stroke, osteoporosis, depression, falls in older adults, and many other adverse health outcomes. Research also suggests that widespread physical inactivity exacts a heavy toll on the US economy, as well as on individual...
متن کاملCitizens and Policymakers∗
We investigate the effectiveness of an aggressive price stabilizing (antiinflation) policy on the ability of citizens to achieve rational expectations equilibrium (REE) forecasts of inflation. Inflation does not persist when citizens have rational expectations forecasts. In using policy to assist citizens in achieving REE forecasts, policymakers also reduce inflation persistence. An aggressive ...
متن کاملWomen's constructions of the 'right time' to consider decisions about risk-reducing mastectomy and risk-reducing oophorectomy
BACKGROUND Women who are notified they carry a BRCA1/2 mutation are presented with surgical options to reduce their risk of breast and ovarian cancer, including risk-reducing mastectomy (RRM) and risk-reducing oophorectomy (RRO). Growing evidence suggests that a sub-group of women do not make decisions about RRM and RRO immediately following genetic testing, but rather, consider these decisions...
